Days Gone ~ Sarah & Deacon's Wedding Trailer
Feb 14, 2019 - 6:52 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Days Gone: The Wedding

In a Days Gone storyline called “I Remember,” Deacon attempts to deal with his tragic past. Long before a global pandemic killed the world — turning the Pacific Northwest into a terrifying no-man’s land of Freakers, Marauders and those just struggling to survive — the Farewell Wilderness set the stage for an unlikely romance between an outlaw biker and an extraordinary young woman from Seattle.

The wilderness is where they met, it’s where he taught her to ride, where she taught him about botany — the reason she was in the high desert in the first place. It’s where he proposed to her. It’s where, in a small church in the tiny town of Marion Forks, witnessed only by long-time friend William “Boozer” Gray, Deacon and Sarah were married.

With just a touch, Sarah Whitaker’s charm and sincerity was always able to soften Deacon, allowing him to show his awkward and tender side. He loved her so much that, a longtime member of the Mongrels MC, Deacon St. John chose to leave the MC and become a NOMAD for her so they could spend more time together. Share a life together.

Two years later, Sarah is gone. Deacon, now a drifter and bounty hunter on the broken road, is left with only a photo to remind him of the woman he loved and the man she had helped him become. In a brief moment of peace at the church where they exchanged vows, Deacon reflects on everything he’s lost, the burnt out shell of the church, a reflection of the man he’s become — haggard, worn, and alone.

But in the world of Days Gone, you are never alone for very long. And in a strange way, Deacon seems to welcome the intrusion. Anything, to help him forget his broken vow: “I promise to never leave you.”

Activision Posts Record Profits - Fires 800 People
Feb 13, 2019 - 6:55 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Activision Blizzard is laying off approximately 775 people — 8% of its 9,600-person staff — as it refocuses its efforts on its Call of Duty, Candy Crush, Overwatch, Warcraft, Hearthstone and Diablo franchises.

Activision called the move a de-prioritizing of initiatives that didn’t meet expectations. CEO Bobby Kotick said that the cuts would come from support staff while the company consolidates its commercial operations and reorganizes its marketing initiatives. Activision will be instead investing more in live services, Battle.net, eSports, and advertising efforts.

The company added it would be increasing development resources by 20 percent in 2019 on those franchises it is now focusing on. “The company will fund this greater investment by de-prioritizing initiatives that are not meeting expectations and reducing certain non-development and administrative-related costs across the business,” the publisher said in its earnings release.”

“While our financial results for 2018 were the best in our history, we didn’t realize our full potential,” Bobby Kotick, Chief Executive Officer of Activision Blizzard said in an earnings report statement. “To help us reach our full potential, we have made a number of important leadership changes. These changes should enable us to achieve the many opportunities our industry affords us, especially with our powerful owned franchises, our strong commercial capabilities, our direct digital connections to hundreds of millions of players, and our extraordinarily talented employees.”

Net revenue for the quarter was $2.38 billion, beating outlook of $2.24 billion. Net income for the year was $1.8 billion compared to $273 million for 2017. Activision exceeded last year’s net revenue with $7.5 billion against $7.02 billion in 2017.

Starbreeze sells back ”System Shock 3” publishing rights to OtherSide Entertainment
Feb 13, 2019 - 6:51 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Starbreeze and have mutually agreed to sell back the publishing rights to OtherSide Entertainment for “System Shock 3”. Starbreeze expects to be fully reimbursed for costs the company has had in connection with development of the game.

Starbreeze acquired the publishing rights for “System Shock 3” in 2017 and has since then partly financed the development of the game. The title owner OtherSide Entertainment and Starbreeze have now reached an agreement whereby Starbreeze returns the publishing rights for the game to OtherSide and will be able to recoup the development costs.

“I believe this is the best solution for us, although it is sad that we cannot complete the project with OtherSide. System Shock 3 is a fantastic title developed in cooperation with the industry legend Warren Spector and I am looking forward to seeing the game released”, said Mikael Nermark, acting CEO Starbreeze AB.

As previously announced, Starbreeze will focus on its core business of games development and publishing. Starbreeze holds publishing titles for “Psychonauts 2” and “Ten Crowns”.

Apex Legends Teasing its First in-game Event
Feb 12, 2019 - 7:11 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Mysterious goings-on are happening in Apex Legends and we are all aboard the hype train. Eagle eyed players have spotted a message in the kill feed of Apex Legends: "A Nessy Appears...". It's leaving everyone quite bewildered.

Now you may think that this is just a small easter egg and a callback to the Titanfall games from Respawn. However, Respawn community manager Jay Frechette chimed in on the Reddit discussion with the comment, "let's just say someone is on to something...". Associate producer Josh Medina also followed that up with, "How long til someone figures it out imma say I have faith in the community and say they get it in a week lol".

Since the original Titanfall, a small plush toy of the Loch Ness Monster has been a regular feature in Respawn's maps. Apex Legends is in the Titanfall universe, albeit many years in the future, so it makes sense Nessy has made a return. But what are Respawn teasing? There are several Nessies in the Apex Legends training area, but it's the one found in the Kings Canyon map that seems important.

That first Nessy location is by Cascades on the Apex Legends map. Go to the respawn station where you can revive your dead teammates, then go slightly further north and you'll find a small pond. Taking a swim is a green Nessy. Shoot it and a message will appear in the killfeed: "A Nessy Appears".

It seems like there's something going on and now the Apex Legends community knows about it, no doubt it will be solved rapidly. The common consensus is that there will be more Nessy toys throughout the map and shooting them all will cause something to happen. Maybe the huge leviathans outside of the map will come wading to shore, chomping at anyone foolish enough to go near?

One Reddit commenter claims there's 10 Nessy toys to find as he's dug into the files, but with nothing to back up that claim, it could well be a troll. One thing's for sure: the Apex Legends journey is only just beginning, and we're surely in for a wild ride.

Tomb of Doom - Weekly Update.
Feb 10, 2019 - 3:25 PM - by BeardedSonOfNel

Well I did manage to get some work done on the file system. I did want to show moving from room to room this week, and a monster battle, but real life happens and I couldn't get that far.

The video above does two things. One, it reveals the name of the game, and two it demos my file system for the game.

It was important for me to get the file structure nailed down. It will now be very easy to build locations with items, puzzles, monsters, and what-not.

I started a new job this last week, so progress has slowed, but progress is still being made.

Apex Legends’ Hits Twitch Running With $200,000 Competition
Feb 10, 2019 - 9:57 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Free-to-play battle royale title “Apex Legends” launched two days ago, yet it’s already hosting its first big tournament on Twitch.

The Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge takes place on Feb. 12 and Feb. 19 and features 48 streamers competing for $200,000 in prizes, Twitch said in a blog post on Wednesday. Some of the online personalities participating in the event include DrDisrespect, TSM Myth, DisguisedToast, Shroud, and more.

Each day’s competition features 16 three-player squads who must earn the most points to win. Five points are awarded for each match victory, while each kill awards one point.

“To win, streamer squads have to show they’ve mastered the unique abilities of the game’s roster of legends, plus they’ll have to make the most of ‘Apex Legend’s’ new additions to the Battle Royale genre, like Smart Comms for improved call-outs and Respawn Beacons for defying death,” Twitch said.

The Twitch Rivals Apex Legends Challenge will air live on the /TwitchRivals channel.

“Apex Legends” is the latest game from “Titanfall” developer Respawn Entertainment. It combines familiar elements of the battle royale genre with elements of hero shooters like Blizzard Entertainment’s “Overwatch.” Players pick from a unique cast of characters, each with their own abilities and play styles, then drop into a large map where they must scrounge for weapons and gear before taking out their opponents.

The game’s first season reportedly begins in March. At that time, players can buy its Battle Pass to unlock challenges and cosmetic items. More characters, skins, and weapons are also expected in the near future.

Apex Legends Hits 10 Million Players in 72 Hours

On Tuesday morning, it was looking distinctly like Respawn Entertainment's battle royale gamble had paid off, with Apex Legends having amassed 1 million players in just a few hours after its surprise launch. Now, however, 72 hours in, that's climbed to a whopping 10 million players.
Quote:
"We hoped you'd love it as much as us, but never in our wildest dreams could we have expected the outpouring of support and positivity we've seen," Zampella continued, "From all of us at Respawn, thank you for giving us and Apex Legends a chance."
It also seem Eurogamer really likes this game, so there, let the debate on the quality of this game continue here in EvAv.

I hope they do well with this, they deserve a break! (I totally ignore the EA side of things here, we all know what EA are worth.)

How to get more Apex Coins, Legend Tokens and Crafting Metals
Feb 06, 2019 - 9:37 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
With Apex Legends releasing for free on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, it will come as no surprise that the game includes micro-transactions, allowing players to purchase new weapon skins, banners and voice quips.

None of these items provide players with any competitive advantage in the game, but will make your character stand out from the pack with some awesome gear.

The easiest way to get your hands on new items is by buying some Apex Coins, which are available for purchase in the game using real-world money.

Players can spend anywhere from $9.99 up to $99.99 on this currency, which can then be used to buy Apex Packs or specific items found in the in-game store or the Armory.

For players who don’t want to spend any cash on the game, Apex Packs can also be unlocked by simply playing the game, as Apex Packs are offered as rewards to players who have levelled up.

Legend Tokens are also awarded to players for reaching the next level, allowing players who earn enough of them to unlock the two locked characters in Apex Legends at release, Caustic and Mirage.

Finally, players can also unlock new items using Crafting Metals. These can be exchanged for weapons skins inside the Armory, but currently the only way to get your hands on them is inside Apex Packs.

Respawn have released the expected drop rate for the rarity level of items that can be found inside them, with players having a 100% chance of finding at least one rare item inside.

For those planning on buying Apex Packs but worried about getting the same item multiple times, Respawn have confirmed that Apex Packs have duplicate protection, meaning that once you have unlocked an item, you won’t receive it from an Apex Pack again.

EA Has "Difficult Quarter," Stock Price Nosedives
Feb 06, 2019 - 7:50 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Video game giant Electronic Arts reported earnings today for its fiscal third quarter ended December 31, and it could have gone better during the all-important holiday period. While EA did post gains in revenue and profit, the company said in its official remarks that it was a "difficult quarter" that saw the company fail to meet its commercial expectations.

CFO Blake Jorgensen said in prepared remarks that 2018 was a "tumultuous" year for the gaming industry overall. Though he did not share any specifics, he might have been referring to the way in which the absolute juggernaut Fortnite shook up the industry in the past year. Not only that, but Red Dead Redemption 2's release in October might have impacted sales of EA's games.

While it might not have been the quarter EA wanted, Jorgensen said EA is "making adjustments to improve execution and we're refocusing on R&D." EA CEO Andrew Wilson said the company is looking to "sharpen" its execution going forward.

One title that struggled during the period was Battlefield 5. The World War II shooter sold a massive 7.3 million copies, but this was 1 million shy of what EA expected.

Take-Two Interactive and 2K Name Industry Veteran Michael Condrey as President of New Game Development Studio in Silicon Valley

Take-Two Interactiv and its wholly-owned label, 2K, today announced that video game industry veteran Michael Condrey has joined the Company as President of the label’s new game development studio based in Silicon Valley. Best known for co-founding Sledgehammer Games and leading development for the renowned Call of Duty franchise, as well as his roles as Chief Operating Officer and Director at Visceral Games in establishing the popular Dead Space franchise, Condrey will build and lead a new development team to work on an unannounced project.

Condrey brings more than 20 years of creative, production and development leadership experience to 2K. His industry acumen played an integral role in bolstering one of interactive entertainment’s most distinguished franchises of all time – Call of Duty – including the development of the award-winning, first-person shooter titles Call of Duty: WWII (2017), Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (2014) and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2011). Condrey also led creation of the third-person, survival-horror shooter Dead Space (2008), which earned Action Game of the Year honors at the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences’ Interactive Achievement Awards, as well as guided the James Bond 007 franchise to critical and commercial success.

“At 2K, we offer our collective audience a variety of engaging and captivating entertainment experiences. We continually seek opportunities to empower and invest in the right people and ideas,” said David Ismailer, President at 2K. “Michael’s unparalleled creative, production and leadership accolades are well-documented and deserved. We are greatly inspired not only by his passion but the potential for his new studio to complement our existing portfolio and development expertise. We welcome Michael to the 2K family and look forward to seeing our new Silicon Valley studio flourish in the months and years to come.”

“Great games come from the passion of a team driven by the pursuit of quality and the empowerment of an independent studio model. 2K’s studios have creative and technical autonomy, backed by a world-class infrastructure of support, and that offers the perfect recipe to build a new studio and craft experiences that will lead the next generation of gaming for fans everywhere,” said Condrey. “David and the dedicated people at 2K and Take-Two have an extensive history of rich and established brands, as well as a long tenure of executive leadership committed to supporting the ambitions of their independent studio teams.”

“Today’s announcement represents a rare and special opportunity for developers to help build and shape a new Silicon Valley studio from the ground up,” added Condrey. “I couldn’t be more excited, or thankful, to embark on this next step in my career.”

2K’s new Silicon Valley studio – with an official name to be announced – will join the Company’s family of wholly owned development teams, including Visual Concepts, Firaxis Games, Hangar 13 and Cat Daddy Games. Condrey and his future team will have the creative freedom to develop the studio’s vision and long-term projects while having access to a global network of proven industry leaders and resources across 2K’s studios. Respawn Launches Fortnite Clone Apex Legends
Feb 04, 2019 - 7:28 PM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Look out, Fortnite.

EA and Respawn Entertainment, the game studio behind the Titanfall series, revealed their own free-to-play Battle Royale shooter on Monday: Apex Legends.

The new game is set in the Titanfall universe and offers a few twists on the established Battle Royale formula. Players are able to select one of eight playable character options, called "Legends," each with their own unique abilities. The gameplay is squad-based and the last team surviving wins.

Unlike Fortnite, players in Apex Legends can choose where their character will spawn at the beginning of a match using the Jumpmaster system. Downed teammates can also be revived via Respawn Beacons, one-time use locations to bring back felled allies. Additionally, there is an in-game communication system called Ping that allows players to pinpoint enemies, weapons, locations and more, and an inventory system which automatically attaches gear players pick up to the appropriate corresponding weapon.

“Our goal in every game you play is that you come in with a plan but you leave with a story,” said Drew McCoy, lead producer for Apex Legends. “We’re building a game that is not only going to deliver a fun and memorable experience at launch, but something we can keep growing for a long time to come.”

Battle Royale is one of the hottest trends in gaming currently, with AAA titles such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2 implementing a version of the gameplay mode into their online components. Fortnite, meanwhile, posted enormous profits last year with its free-to-play, microtransaction model, earning $2.4 billion in 2018.

Apex Legends is free to download now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A Battle Pass, which allows players access to exclusive cosmetic items earned through gameplay, will be available to purchase when the game's first season officially launches in March. New seasons will bring new content to the game such as new weapons, Legends and more.

Tomb of Doom - Weekly Update.
Feb 03, 2019 - 8:46 AM - by BeardedSonOfNel

As stated last week Evil, and I are working on a text adventure for the Commodore 64. I know Evil has been chomping at the bit to work on the story, but my focus has been the engine. I have about 80% of the battle system coded (that part is easy and fun). This week I plan on working on the file system, and loading locations from of disk.

Look for a video next week demoing a battle, and moving from one location to the next.

Xbox "Going Big" At E3 2019 After Sony Drops Out
Feb 01, 2019 - 7:55 AM - by Evil Avatar

With Sony dropping out of E3 this year, Microsoft is seeing an opening and planning to go big with their Xbox presentation. Gamespot has the news.

Quote:
E3 2019 is going to be a big year for Xbox at E3, it seems. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer said on a recent podcast that Microsoft's showing at E3 this year will be "as big" as it's ever been for Xbox, and one reason why might be because Sony is dropping out of E3.

Speaking to Major Nelson, Spencer started off by saying, "This is going to be a fun E3 for us." He recalled an internal Microsoft conversation about E3 after the "news" that dropped last year about E3, which is presumably a reference to Sony skipping the show.

"There was some news about E3 back in the fall. We had a discussion internally about, 'Should we go big?' 'Should we save some money?' 'What does that mean?' We decided, no [we're not going to save money], we're going to do our thing," Spencer said. "We're going to go and be as big at E3 as we've ever been. I love that opportunity."

Right now, with about five months to go before E3 2019, Microsoft is in the midst of thinking about how and who the company can get to come on stage, Spencer said. The company is also talking about if the company wants to talk about titles and products coming in the short-term versus the long-term. Spencer said he personally likes to be transparent, but he's also mindful of being careful not to announce something too early.

Not A Bad Year For Xbox
Jan 31, 2019 - 9:50 AM - by BeardedSonOfNel

Via Gamespot
Quote:
According to the company, gaming revenue increased by 8%, at a total of $4.23 billion. Xbox software and services revenue increased by the most at 31%, thanks to the strength of third-parties. Xbox Live monthly active users are also up 8%, totaling 64 million. That figure includes Gold and Silver members, as well as users on Windows 10 and smartphones.

Hardware didn't fare quite so well. It was down 19%, which Microsoft credits largely to the year-over-year comparison putting it against the launch of the Xbox One X in 2017. Overall, company revenue was up 12% for a total of $32.5 billion.

Microsoft's Xbox division has been making big moves as it prepares for the future. It has plans to expand Game Pass to PC, and has acquired a long list of studios to produce more first-party content. Those include Ninja Theory, Undead Labs, Playground Games, Compulsion Games, and most recently, Obsidian and InXile. It has also announced a game-streaming service that will begin rolling out in beta this year, and it's at work on the multiple new Xbox consoles.

Next up, we have Hitman: The Complete First Season. Take on the role of Agent 47, the world’s ultimate assassin. Travel the globe to eliminate your targets in traditional and less traditional ways. Metro Exodus ditches Steam to become an Epic Games Store exclusive

Epic Games and Deep Silver Announce Partnership to Release Metro Exodus for PC on the Epic Games Store

Epic Games and Deep Silver today announced a partnership that will see the digitally-distributed PC version of the highly anticipated Metro Exodus release on February 15 2019 solely through the Epic Games store.

Players worldwide can now pre-purchase both Standard and Gold Editions at EpicGames.com, from $49.99 in North America and €59.99 in most European countries. All pre-orders include the Metro Exodus Original Soundtrack and ‘The World of Metro’ Digital Art Book.

“Metro Exodus is amazing and is deservedly one of the most anticipated PC titles of 2019,” said Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic. “We are partnering with Deep Silver to launch Metro Exodus, underpinned by Epic’s marketing support and commitment to offering an 88% revenue split, enabling game creators to further reinvest in building great games and improving the economics of game stores for everybody.”

“We are delighted to partner with Epic to bring the digital PC version of Metro Exodus to market,” said Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO at Deep Silver. “Epic’s generous revenue terms are a game changer that will allow publishers to invest more into content creation, or pass on savings to the players. By teaming up with Epic we will be able to invest more into the future of Metro and our ongoing partnership with series developer 4A Games, to the benefit of our Metro fans.”

Any customer with an outstanding pre-order for Metro Exodus on PC through any digital retailer will receive their game as expected.

Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first-person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created. Explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter. Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom’s story in the greatest Metro adventure yet.

Metro Exodus will be released on February 15 for Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, and PC.

In addition, Deep Silver will release Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux to the Epic Games store later this year.

Notice: Later today, sales of Metro Exodus will be discontinued on Steam due to a publisher decision to make the game exclusive to another PC store.

The developer and publisher have assured us that all prior sales of the game on Steam will be fulfilled on Steam, and Steam owners will be able to access the game and any future updates or DLC through Steam.

We think the decision to remove the game is unfair to Steam customers, especially after a long pre-sale period. We apologize to Steam customers that were expecting it to be available for sale through the February 15th release date, but we were only recently informed of the decision and given limited time to let everyone know.

The New Details Of Fallout 76's New Survival Mode
Jan 29, 2019 - 1:45 AM - by HawkLeo

Quote:
The Bethesda Game Studios now is sharing new details about "Fallout 76's" upcoming player-verses-player survival mode.

The studio finally decided to create Survival mode after it received massive feedback from players looking for a greater competitive challenge with fewer PvP (Player Versus Player) restrictions and more incentives, it said in an update on Thursday. So far, it is still working on the mode internally and Bethesda plans to bring it into the live game step by step, putting more features and content over time.

As long as Bethesda starts to beta testing the new feature, players could choose whether they would like to play Adventure mode (the default "Fallout 76" experience) or Survival mode. The second mode would have all the same quests, events, and the story of the first (Adventure) mode. Gamers have the ability to create new characters or use existing ones, according to Bethesda said. If they do use existing characters, all of their progress from Adventure mode will transfer over. But, that also means actions taken in Survival mode - for instance, like using up ammo, completing quests, and spending Fallout 76 bottle caps, affect the Adventure mode, too.

According to what Bethesda said: "If you'd rather keep your existing characters as they are, we recommend starting a new one when you head into the more challenging Survival mode."

Except for teammates and event groupmates all players are automatically flagged as hostile while in the mode of Survival, which this means they can attack each other at any time and without any restrictions. Bethesda also claimed that level scaling works the same as it does in Adventure mode. "This will help to level the playing field a bit and give newer characters a fighting chance against high-level players they might encounter during their adventures in the Wasteland. As a result, you'll need to keep your wits about you during every hostile encounter, because even low-level characters can pose a real threat," it said.

After the beta launches, Bethesda also plans to experiment with different rules. So far, the dead gamers still can’t use the seek revenge respawn option. They only can respawn at their C.A.M.P. or Vault 76. Bethesda also wants to award twice as many Caps for player kills, and they might drop some Fallout 76 items when they drop. "Added risks and rewards like these in Survival mode PvP will make each of your deaths more devastating, and every kill you rack up much more lucrative," Bethesda said. "However, it's important to note that these changes aren't set in stone, and we'll be looking to make adjustments based on playtesting and your feedback during the Survival Beta."

Last but not least, Bethesda said it plans to roll out in-game leaderboards during the Survival Beta. It will share more details on that closer to the beta's start date. Even though the developer stated it hopes to launch the beta version in March, it said it still has a lot more work to do on the leaderboards and other features and may need more time for testing. So the players may need more patience.

Spider-Man Gets Fantastic New Suits Today!
Jan 28, 2019 - 8:11 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
There have been too many cool Spidey/Fantastic Four moments to count, but one of the most memorable in their illustrious history was in Amazing Spider-Man #258, when Spidey swung by the Fantastic Four’s headquarters for help with the alien symbiote he was wearing as a costume (that’s right, it later became Venom). The Fantastic Four got it off, but then Spidey was left in his underpants (we’d never do something that silly in the game…wait, I’m being told we did). So Spidey borrowed a Fantastic Four costume…but they don’t have masks! So, to conceal Peter Parker’s secret identity, his frenemy, the Human Torch, gave Spidey a grocery bag to wear on his head. As The Thing might say, what a revoltin’ development!

Another chapter in their shared story came when Spidey actually joined the Fantastic Four, then calling themselves the Future Foundation, and they all wore cool black and white costumes. Hey, Dan wrote many of those issues, and I scripted one or two myself! That suit was awesome looking because – but you don’t want to hear me yap, look for yourself!

How sweet is that? The Bombastic Bag-Man and the Future Foundation suit – and they can be yours to use in the game simply by downloading patch 1.14 for the game by connecting online to the PlayStation Network. But what’s that you say, web-heads? You want to see how they actually look in-game? Well I have some good news for you!

BeardedSonOfNel and Evil Avatar Are Creating A Love Child With A C-64
Jan 27, 2019 - 8:34 AM - by BeardedSonOfNel

I'm happy to announce that Evil and I are making a retro text adventure. The name in the screen shot above is a place holder and not the name of the game.

Yesterday I began prototyping the game engine. Evil will be the true hero here as he has graciously taken on the task of helping me write the story (or maybe the whole story )

The game will be written in BASIC, so multiple platforms could be supported in the future. The initial target platform is the Commodore 64. The game will run on real hardware as well as the C-64 Mini, and emulators for Windows, OS X, Linux, and tablets/phones.

I plan on doing a weekly development blog here so the EvAv community can watch our progress.

Hitman 2 Elusive Target #3 – “The Appraiser” – Available Now; Check Out the Full Mission Briefing Video!

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and IO Interactive today released the third Elusive Target mission in Hitman 2, entitled The Appraiser, featuring Miranda Jamison, a famous art appraiser and key player in extensive price fixing that take place in the art world. Mrs. Jamison’s callous approach to the fine arts business has destroyed countless galleries and led to the fatal demise of several artists. In her latest act of treachery, Jamison recently hired a gang of thieves to steal a valuable painting from a former client, but upon discovering her involvement, the disgruntled owner has hired the ICA to step in and handle the situation. It’s now up to Agent 47 to retire “The Appraiser” before the artwork is revealed.

Elusive Target No. 3, entitled The Appraiser, is available now (Jan. 25) through Feb. 3 within the Isle of Sgàil (North Atlantic), therefore players only have one chance to successfully take out Miranda Jamison (a.k.a. “The Appraiser”) during this 10-day period. Players who complete the mission will unlock the Tuxedo and Mask with Gloves Suit. Check out the Elusive Target Rewards blog post for a full overview.

In Hitman 2, Elusive Targets are unique, high-stakes contracts that are only available for a limited time. These missions are FREE for all Hitman 2 owners, allowing one chance to assassinate the target and if not successfully completed, the contract cannot be retried.

Nintendo Hires Retro Studios to Save Metroid Prime 4
Jan 25, 2019 - 7:33 AM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
Nintendo is bringing in Retro Studios to work with “Metro Prime 4’s” producer and start over on game development, Nintendo announced Friday morning.

The news comes about a year and a half after Nintendo announced that the game was in development for the Nintendo Switch internally. Producer Kensuke Tanabe previously worked on a slew of Nintendo titles including “Metroid Prime: Federation Force,” “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze,” and “Metroid Prime 3: Corruption.”

“We have decided to reexamine the development structure itself and change it,” Shinya Takahashi said in a rare video from Nintendo on Youtube Friday morning. “Specifically, we have decided to have the producer, Kensuke Tanabe, work in trust and collaboration with the studio that developed the original Metroid Prime series, Retro Studios in the United States and restart development from the beginning.”

The decision came after Nintendo decided that the current development progress had not “reached the standards we seek in a sequel to the Metroid Prime series.”

“Nintendo always strives for the highest quality in our games; and in the development phase, we challenge ourselves and confront whether the game is living up to that quality on a daily basis. If we’re not satisfied with the quality we aren’t able to deliver it to our customers with confidence and the game will not live up to our fans’ expectations,” Takahashi said. “From this perspective, we have determined that the current development status of the game is very challenged, and we had to make a difficult decision as a development team.”

Amazon Drops New The Boys Teaser
Jan 24, 2019 - 8:00 PM - by Evil Avatar

Quote:
In a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame, THE BOYS centers on a group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys,” who set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. THE BOYS is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about “The Seven,” and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes. Coming Summer 2019.
